The SeaWolves capitalized on 11 hits and eight Altoona walks to defeat the Curve 9-2 on Wednesday.

Trei Cruz opened the first inning with a solo home run against Jackson Wolf to give Erie an instant 1-0 lead.

In the second, Erie loaded the bases with one out. Jace Jung reached on an infield single to plate a run and make it 2-0.

In the third, Luis Santana hit a double high off the left field fence and later scored on Corey Joyce’s double to make it 3-0.

Bryan Sammons surrendered a two-run home run to Jacob Gonzalez in the fifth inning to make it 3-2.

After Justin Meis tossed three perfect innings in relief for Altoona, Geronimo Franzua took over in the seventh and struggled. Cruz led off with a double and scored on Justice Bigbie’s single. Jung then clobbered a two-run home run to make it 6-2. Grant Ford replaced Franzua with the bases loaded and two out. He walked both Danny Serretti and Cruz to force home runs and extend the lead to 8-2. In the eighth inning, Ford forced home another run when Mario Feliciano was hit with the bases loaded. It made it 9-2.

Sammons tossed a quality start. He (2-1) earned the win by going six inning and allowing two runs on three hits with one walk and five strikeouts. Wolf (0-2) took the loss.

Erie and Altoona continue the series on Thursday at 6:05 p.m. as Brant Hurter opposes Anthony Solometo.
