One big hit sunk the SeaWolves as Somerset wins the series finale, 3-2.

Adam Wolf made a spot start for the SeaWolves and lasted 2.2 innings, allowing four hits, one walk, and three strikeouts. He departed for RJ Petit with the bases loaded in the third, and Petit escaped the jam.

Yoendrys Gomez made his season debut for Somerset and threw the first three innings, allowing no hits and one walk. Jake Holton had Erie’s first hit, a two-out, RBI single, against Michael Giacone in the fourth inning to give the SeaWolves a 1-0 lead.

After Petit threw 2.1 innings of scoreless relief, Billy Lescher loaded the bases on two hits and a walk in the sixth inning. Mickey Gasper, who entered the game 0-for-14 on the season, lined a three-run double to right field to give Somerset a 3-1 lead.

Erie got close in the eight inning on consecutive doubles by Diego Rincones and Gage Workman to make it 3-2 in the seventh. Workman was then thrown out attempting to tag and advance on Luis Santana’s fly out to end the inning.

Erie got the leadoff runner on base in the ninth inning on Holton’s second single. After Ben Malgeri pinch ran for Holton, Rincones bounced into a double play started by a sliding stop by Caleb Durbin. Erie was unable to score in the ninth.

The SeaWolves took four of six to win the series from Somerset. They kick off a series in Richmond against the Flying Squirrels on Tuesday at 1:35 p.m. Wilmer Flores pitches against Ryan Murphy.
