May 18, 2024 - Everett, WA: Outfielder Bill Knight and the rest of the AquaSox joined forces to conquer the Emeralds 10-5 Saturday night at Funko Field.

Everett took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning and never looked back. After Jared Sundstrom singled and Victor Labrada walked and stole a base, Knight dropped a 2-RBI double into right field to ignite the Frogs’ scoring. The score would only continue to balloon from there.

In the third, catcher Freuddy Batista hit a solo home run to deep left field, it was his first home run of the season. There was no doubt about Batista’s 374-foot blast as the Frogs’ lead grew 3-0.

The AquaSox would continue their pummeling of the Emeralds in the fourth inning; an inning in which they scored a whopping five runs. After Labrada drew his second walk, Knight blasted off to left field, hitting a two-run shot to extend the lead 5-0 while collecting his career-high fourth RBI of the night. Gabriel Moncada walked, and Batista doubled for his second hit of the night, positioning Brock Rodden to do some damage. Rodden would slice a line drive double down the left field line to score Moncada and Batista. Rodden’s eighth double increased the lead to 7-0, and Josh Hood would drive home the final run of the inning on an RBI single.

Just when it appeared the AquaSox would stop adding salt to the Emeralds’ wound, they would continue scoring. Colin Davis led off the bottom of the sixth inning with a double. With Davis on second, Rodden would hit his second triple of the season to extend Everett’s lead 9-0. Hood would then knock his second RBI single of the evening to provide the Frogs a double-digit lead 10-0. The Emeralds would rally in the seventh and eighth innings by scoring five runs, but it would not be enough as the AquaSox secured victory 10-5.

Michael Morales pitched a gem of a start in the Frogs’ conquest over the Emeralds. Morales, a right-hander, threw six innings of shutout baseball, allowing a mere four hits. He struck out a career-high ten batters as well; nine swinging and one looking. Morales’ previous career-high in strikeouts was nine. It was also Morales’ second scoreless start of the year.

Finishing the final three innings of the game were a trio of righties; Bryan Pope, Anthony Tomczak, and Chris Jefferson, with Jefferson recording his first save.

Offensively for the AquaSox, six of nine batters hit safely. Rodden led the team with a trio of base knocks, and Hood, Batista, and Knight tallied two hits each. Davis and Sundstrom also hit safely. The Frogs also continued their strong base running as Rodden stole two bases, and Sundstrom and Labrada each swiped one bag.
