August 22, 2026 — EVERETT, Wash.: Led by an 11-hit night and 13 strikeouts from their pitching staff, the Everett AquaSox defeated the Tri-City Dust Devils 8-6 in front of 2,958 fans at Gesa Stadium on Saturday night.
Luis Suisbel opened the scoring for Everett in the top of the second inning, grounding an RBI single into right field after Matthew Ellis singled and Austin St. Laurent walked. Furthering the lead was Cesar Quintas, who added an RBI single of his own for the Frogs’ second run. Tri-City found their first and only run off Everett starting pitcher Evan Truitt in the bottom of the next frame courtesy of Jonny McGill, who hit an RBI single.

Truitt dazzled throughout the rest of his outing, twirling five innings of one-run baseball while allowing five hits. The 23-year-old right-hander from Berlin, Maryland, also struck out a career-high nine batters to go along with no walks, improving his record to 3-5 this season.
The AquaSox offense successfully went to work again in the top of the sixth, rallying for a four-spot to surge ahead 6-1. St. Laurent singled with two outs to keep the inning alive, and Suisbel drove him home with an RBI double to find his second RBI of the game. Quintas singled to place runners on the corners, and Axel Sanchez capitalized on the opportunity by smashing a three-run home run for his seventh long ball of the season.

Tri-City found two home runs of their own during the bottom of the sixth, chipping off three runs from the Frogs’ advantage. Kevyn Castillo belted a two-run homer after Kendrey Maduro doubled to lead off the inning, and Ryland Zaborowski drilled a solo homer of his own to go back-to-back with Castillo.
St. Laurent provided the AquaSox two critical insurance runs during the top of the seventh, placing his team ahead 8-4 by knocking a two-run double after Ellis was hit by a pitch and Cova singled. The Dust Devils again attempted to come back in the bottom of the eighth, making the score 8-6 as Castillo hit an RBI double and Zaborowski hit an RBI single. However, no more runs were able to be found beyond that point as Everett left-hander Reid Easterly tossed a scoreless bottom of the ninth while striking out two to earn his first save and lock down the Frogs’ two-run win.
