Loewen deals seven strong in Fightins return home

Zach Collier has now hit four home runs in three straight games

The Fightin Phils (48-67) got a strong outing out of Adam Loewen and Zach Collier hit his fourth home run in three straight games as the defeated the Harrisburg Senators (47-67) by a score of 5-1. Loewen pitched into the 8th inning and Collier now has six home runs on the season.  

KC Serna got the Fightin Phils on the board in the bottom of the 1st inning as he hit a two-run single off Senators starter John Simms to score Peter Lavin and Kelly Dugan to take a 2-0 lead. Reading chased Simms out of the game in the bottom of the 4th inning as they scored three runs to take a 5-0 lead.

Zach Collier hit his sixth home run of the season and fourth in three straight games to lead off the bottom of the 4th inning. Carlos Alonso hit a RBI single to score Albert Cartwright who singled with one out Kelly Dugan followed with a RBI single to score Alonso.

Adam Loewen left with the bases loaded in the top of the 8th inning as he gave up singles to Adrian Sanchez and Kevin Keyes and hit Quincy Latimore with a pitch. Austin Wright would enter the game with the bases loaded. Wright gave up a sacrifice fly to Drew Vettleson that scored Adrian Sanchez to cut the Fightins lead to 5-1. He retired the two out of the next three batters to end the inning.  

Loewen (2-4) earned his second win as he allowed just one run in seven innings with five hits given up and three walks with four strikeouts. Austin pitched didn't allow a run in his inning of work in the 8th inning. Kyle Simon tossed a scoreless top of the 9th inning to finish out the game.  

The Fightin Phils and Harrisburg Senators return to action tomorrow evening at FirstEnergy Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
