Walding Named EL Player of the Month of June

(Reading, Pa) - The Eastern League has announced that Reading Fightin Phils third baseman Mitch Walding has been selected as the Eastern League Player of the Month for the month of June. Walding batted .337 with four doubles, two triples, 13 home runs, 27 RBIs, 21 runs score, a .398 on-base percentage, and a .848 slugging percentage in 25 games during the month. <o:p>
Walding led the Eastern League in home runs (13), RBIs (27), runs scored (21), total bases (78), slugging percentage (.848) and OPS (1.246) during the month of June. He tied for the league lead in extra-base hits (19) while ranking among the monthly leaders in doubles (2-3rd), hits (31-7th) and batting average (.337-10th).<o:p>
The third baseman currently leads the Eastern League with 20 home runs and ranks among the league leaders in slugging percentage (.566-3rd), extra-base hits (34-6th), total bases (137-7th), OPS (.905-7th), and RBIs (48-tied 8th). <o:p>
Walding is currently batting .244 with 10 doubles, four triples, 20 home runs, 48 RBIs and 42 runs scored in 69 games played this season. <o:p>
