SALISBURY, MD - The FredNats snapped a scoreless tie in the top of the eighth inning, and went on to take down Delmarva 2-0. The Nationals are now 12-6, while the ‘Birds fell to 2-15.

Much like game two of the series, offense was at a premium for the majority of the ballgame. For Fredericksburg, Jose Atencio turned in his second strong start since joining the rotation. The right-hander spun five scoreless innings, scattered six base hits, with no walks and five K’s. Bubba Hall followed that up with two perfect innings of relief, with a pair of strikeouts.

But Delmarva matched that effort, beginning with four shutout frames from Blake Money. Ty Weatherly then carried the shutout into the eighth inning, but gave up a leadoff single to Everett Cooper III. Tyler Baca followed him with another single to put runners on the corners. That brought up Phillip Glasser in a key spot, and he came through. He rolled into a double play, but it was enough to plate Cooper III and give Fredericksburg a 1-0 lead.

The Nats added a much needed insurance run in the top of the ninth, as Gavin Dugas hammered a leadoff double and moved to third on a wild pitch. Brandon Pimentel then lifted a sacrifice fly into center field to bring Dugas home, and double the lead to 2-0.

Samuel Vasquez was tasked with handling the bottom of the ninth inning, after he fired a 1-2-3 eighth. He gave up a one out single to Anderson De Los Santos, then a two-out ground-rule double to Stiven Acevedo, which put the winning run at the plate for Delmarva. Vasquez worked ahead of Doug Hodo 1-2, before inducing a fly out to Elijah Green to end the ballgame. With the win, Fredericksburg has shut out the Shorebirds in all three games to begin the series. Bubba Hall (2-0) got the win, Vasquez got his first save of the year, while Ty Weatherly (0-2) took the loss.

In game four, Jarlin Susana (0-2, 7.56) faces off against Luis De Leon (0-2, 2.53) in a 7:05 start time
