WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. (July 31, 2022) — Blane Abeyta shined again in the Hudson Valley Renegades 7-0 loss to the Brooklyn Cyclones on Sunday afternoon at Dutchess Stadium.

Abeyta (4-7) tossed five strong innings, allowing only one run on two hits, walking two and striking out seven. In his last five appearances, including two starts, Abeyta has posted a 1.11 ERA, permitting only three runs on 16 hits over 24.1 innings, walking eight and striking out 24. Over that span, he has lowered his ERA from 6.26 to 4.58.

Alex Ramirez powered the Cyclones to an early edge. In the top of the fourth, he launched a solo homer to center off Abeyta to give Brooklyn a 1-0 lead. Two innings later, Ramirez crushed a two-run homer to lengthen the lead to 3-0.

Brooklyn starter Junior Santos (5-10) silenced Hudson Valley, firing five shutout innings, surrendering only three hits, walking two and striking out seven.

The Cyclones slammed back-to-back homers in the top of the seventh against Carlos Gomez. Jose Mena and Joe Suozzi teed off to open up a 5-0 lead.

In the top of the eighth, Jaylen Palmer struck a two-run double to right to create a 7-0 cushion.

The Brooklyn bullpen combined for four excellent innings, allowing only one hit, walking two and striking out eight.

Hudson Valley will enjoy an off day tomorrow before beginning a six-game series with the Jersey Shore BlueClaws at ShoreTown Ballpark. First pitch on Tuesday night is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. Coverage begins on the Renegades Baseball Network at 5:45.
