WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (June 21, 2022) — The Hudson Valley Renegades continued their road trip power surge with two home runs on Tuesday night, but fell to the Winston-Salem Dash 7-3 at Truist Stadium. WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (June 21, 2022) — The Hudson Valley Renegades continued their road trip power surge with two home runs on Tuesday night, but fell to the Winston-Salem Dash 7-3 at Truist Stadium.

Hudson Valley struck first in the top of the first against Winston-Salem starter Andrew Dalquist. Trey Sweeney launched a solo homer to right to give the Renegades a 1-0 lead. The home run was Sweeney’s fourth in June and eighth overall on the season, tying him for the club lead.

In the bottom of the first, Oscar Colas responded with a solo blast off Renegades starter Blane Abeyta to level the score at one.

James Nelson and Carlos Narvaez led off the top of the second with consecutive singles to put runners at the corners, and Aldenis Sanchez brought Nelson home with a grounder to put Hudson Valley in front 2-1.

The Dash rallied for four runs in the bottom of the third off Abeyta. Moises Castillo and Bryan Ramos ripped RBI singles and Luis Mieses slammed a two-run double to give Winston-Salem a 5-2 lead. In the bottom of the fourth, Duke Ellis skied a solo shot to left to grow the lead to 6-2.

Abeyta lasted five innings, allowing six runs on eight hits, striking out seven and walking one. He settled down to retire the final six batters he faced, including striking out the last three.

Aaron Palensky crushed his sixth home run of the season in the top of the fifth, trimming the lead to 6-3.

In the bottom of the inning, Ramos reached on an error, allowing Brandon Bossard to score from third and extend the lead to 7-3. The Renegades threatened in the top of the ninth, but couldn't mount a two-out rally against Vince Vannelle.

Cooper Bowman finished the game 2-for-4, and now has multiple hits in four of his last five games played. Alex Mauricio worked a scoreless eighth inning out of the bullpen and now has a 1.04 ERA in six appearances in June.

Hudson Valley will continue its series with Winston-Salem tomorrow night at Truist Stadium. RHP Matt Sauer (3-1, 3.42) takes the ball for the Renegades, while the Dash counter with LHP Garrett Schoenle (0-0, 0.63).
