WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY (May 24, 2022) — The Hudson Valley Renegades were two-hit by the Rome Braves in a 3-1 loss on Tuesday night at Dutchess Stadium.

The Braves jumped in front in the top of the second against Renegades starter Blane Abeyta. Bryson Horne lined an RBI single to make it 1-0 Braves.

Hudson Valley responded in the bottom of the fourth against Rome starter Luis De Avila (1-2). Trey Sweeney led off with a walk, stole second and third, and came around to score on a Tyler Hardman groundout to level the score at one.

The Braves broke ahead with two outs in the top of the fifth, when Landon Stephens launched a two-run double to right-center to give Rome a 3-1 lead.

Abeyta (0-4) lasted 4.2 innings, surrendering three runs on six hits, striking out four and walking three.

Tanner Myatt was excellent in relief for Hudson Valley. The right-hander logged 2.1 perfect innings, striking out two and walking none. Over Myatt’s last five outings, he’s thrown eight innings, allowing only one unearned run on one hit, striking out eight and walking five.

Bryan Blanton added two scoreless, hitless innings to close out the game on the mound. He and Myatt combined for 4.1 no-hit innings, walking three and striking out four.

Alec Barger set the Renegades down in the bottom of the ninth to earn his first save, allowing one hit in a scoreless frame.

Hudson Valley continues its six-game series with Rome tomorrow morning. RHP Will Warren (1-3, 3.41) takes the ball for Hudson Valley, while Rome counters with RHP Roddery Muñoz (1-1, 4.70). First pitch is scheduled for 11:05 a.m. at Dutchess Stadium. Coverage begins on the Renegades Baseball Network at 10:45.

POSTGAME NOTES: At 2:10, Tuesday's game was the shortest nine-inning game of the season for Hudson Valley, eclipsing the 2:14 time of game on both April 15 and 16 at Rome.
