WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. (August 9, 2022) โ€” The Hudson Valley Renegades blasted a trio of solo home runs to take the series opener from the Aberdeen IronBirds 3-2 on Tuesday night at Dutchess Stadium. Tyler Hardman, Grant Richardson and Spencer Henson all went deep to fuel the Renegades victory.

Hudson Valley struck first in the bottom of the fourth against Aberdeen starter Jake Lyons. Hardman nailed a solo homer to right field to give the Renegades a 1-0 lead. The home run was Hardmanโ€™s team-leading 15th of the season.

Renegades starter Yoendrys Gomez shined again, tossing a season-long 4.2 shutout innings, surrendering only one hit, striking out four and walking none. In his ninth start with Hudson Valley, Gomez logged his fifth scoreless appearance dropped his ERA to 1.64.

The IronBirds answered back in the top of the fifth against Shawn Semple. Trendon Craig drilled an RBI double, scoring Billy Cook to level the score at one.

Hudson Valley immediately responded, teeing off Daniel Federman to regain the lead. Richardson skied a solo shot to left to put the Renegades in front 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth. Two innings later, Henson launched a no-doubter to lengthen the lead to 3-1.

In the top of the ninth, Craig knocked his second RBI hit, a single up the middle to trim the deficit to 3-2, but Carlos Gomez coaxed Darell Hernaiz to ground out to shut the door and earn his second save.

Hudson Valley continues its six-game series with the Aberdeen IronBirds on Wednesday night at Dutchess Stadium. RHP Juan Carela (0-0, 67.50) takes the ball for the Renegades, while the IronBirds tab RHP Chayce McDermott (6-1, 5.42). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Coverage begins on the Renegades Baseball Network at 6:45.
