DURHAM, N.C. - The Durham Bulls came into Friday night as the top run-scoring offense in the International League, and they flexed that muscle in a 12-3 win over the Indianapolis Indians in the series opener. The game was halted early in the top of the eighth inning due to rain.
The Bulls (25-14) took the lead with three runs in the second.
Indianapolis (20-18) quickly answered and tied the game in the third inning. Wyatt Mathisen and
Durham regained the lead for good in the fourth. Bauers doubled home a run, and
Newman lined his third hit of the game to left field to open the seventh, but despite a pair of runners in scoring position and no one out, Indy did not score. Durham went on to plate six in the bottom half and rolled to the 12-3 victory.
The Indians will try and bounce back tomorrow night, first pitch is 6:35 p.m. The Tribe returns to Victory Field on Monday to take on the Louisville Bats.
