LOUISVILLE, KY. – Max Kranick struck out eight batters to shut down the Louisville Bats offense and lead the Indianapolis Indians to a 3-0 win in the series finale on Sunday afternoon.

LOUISVILLE, KY. – Max Kranick struck out eight batters to shut down the Louisville Bats offense and lead the Indianapolis Indians to a 3-0 win in the series finale on Sunday afternoon.

The Indians (54-59) scored three runs in the top of the fourth inning to get on the board. Jared Oliva and Bligh Madris reached base with singles and John Nogowski hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Oliva. Ka’ai Tom launched a two-run home run over the right field fence to take the 3-0 lead.

With runners at first and third, the Bats (49-64) threatened in the bottom of the seventh inning. Joe Jacques entered in the seventh frame and shut down the threat after striking out Brantley Bell to secure the third out. Louisville would not cross the plate as the Indians pitching staff shut down the Bats offense.

Max Kranick (W, 4-4) earned the win and threw his third quality start with the Indians this season. He gave up two hits and did not allow a run with eight strikeouts in six innings of work. Shea Spitzbarth (S, 2) entered the game in the ninth inning and earned the save with two strikeouts. Hunter Greene (L, 5-8) took the loss giving up three runs (two unearned) on four hits in four innings.

The Indians return to Victory Field on Tuesday to begin a six-game series vs. St. Paul Saints with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 PM ET. Probable for both teams have yet to be named.
