Keller Honored as International League Pitcher of the Week

Right-hander strikes out 13 over two impressive starts

INDIANAPOLIS - Today the International League named Indianapolis Indians starting pitcher Mitch Keller as the IL Pitcher of the Week. The weekly honor is the first by a Tribe player this season and the fourth of the 23-year-old's career.

INDIANAPOLIS - Today the International League named Indianapolis Indians starting pitcher Mitch Keller as the IL Pitcher of the Week. The weekly honor is the first by a Tribe player this season and the fourth of the 23-year-old's career.

The Iowa native made two home starts this past week for the Tribe, compiling a 1-0 record, 0.79 ERA (1er/11.1ip), 13 strikeouts and .231 batting average against (9-for-39). His ERA was the lowest mark among qualifying pitchers, and he also ranked among league leaders in strikeouts (second) and innings pitched (third) for the week.
Through four starts on the young season, Keller is 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA (6er/20.0ip) and 22 strikeouts. He is tied for third in the league in innings pitched, fifth in strikeouts and seventh in ERA.
Keller was selected by the Pirates in the second round (64th overall) of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft.
