Tribe Snap Losing Streak against Columbus

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indians' bats came alive on Sunday, as eight out of ten Tribe batters tallied at least one hit en route to a 9-3 win at Victory Field. Austin Meadows and Eric Wood combined for six hits and seven RBI, while Tyler Eppler surrendered two runs on four hits over seven innings in picking up the win.

The Indians (33-29) increased their division lead on Columbus back to three games and split their two-game series with the Clippers.
Columbus (30-32) managed to slug two home runs off Eppler, but were out-hit by the Tribe,13-6.
The Clippers struck first with a leadoff home run by Abraham Almonte, but the Indians answered back in the bottom of the second inning after Wood slapped an RBI single that scored Erich Weiss and Barrett Barnes. The Tribe later increased their lead to five in the bottom of the fourth inning when Meadows cleared the bases with a three-run double.
After a solo home run from Columbus' Nellie Rodriguez in the fifth, the Indians pushed across four more runs in the eighth inning on RBI singles from Wood and Joey Terdoslavich, and an RBI double from Weiss increasing their lead to seven.
Columbus would tally one more run in the ninth inning, but the Indians held on to win, 9-3.
Eppler (5-2) struck out six and retired the last eight batters he faced. The win brought his season record to 5-2.
Clippers starter Mike Clevinger (3-2) surrendered five runs on five hits over four innings pitched and took his first career loss against the Indians.
After a day off tomorrow, the Indians will begin a six-game road trip that starts in Norfolk on Tuesday night. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. at Harbor Park.
