June 10, 2013

Infielder Elevys Gonzalez joins the Albuquerque Isotopes today, June 10 from Single-A Great Lakes. In a corresponding move, shortstop Justin Sellers was recalled by the Los Angeles Dodgers today.

This will mark Gonzalez's first appearance on a Triple-A roster. Gonzalez, 23, split time between Rancho Cucamonga and Great Lakes this season, hitting a combined .183 (15-for-82) with six RBI, two doubles, two triples and a home run in a total of 29 games. The Venezuelan native was originally signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates as a non-drafted free agent in 2008. In six Minor League seasons, Gonzalez holds a career .272 batting average (374-for-1377) with 21 home runs, 190 RBI and 71 doubles. Previously, the highest level Gonzalez reached was Double-A when he played 50 games at Double-A Altoona (Pittsburgh) last season.

Sellers rejoins the Dodgers for his second stint in Los Angeles this season after beginning the year on the Dodgers' Opening Day roster. The 27-year-old infielder hit .337 (31-for-92) with 11 doubles, one home run and 17 RBI in 24 games at Triple-A Albuquerque this season after being optioned on May 8 by Los Angeles. In 26 games with the Dodgers, Sellers batted .191 with a home run and two RBI.
