Isotopes Staff Members' Quick Thinking Saves Life

September 9, 2016

The City of Albuquerque has recognized members of the Isotopes staff, Albuquerque Fire Department, and Albuquerque Ambulance Services for saving the life of an Isotopes usher this past May.

Bobby Atencio, Nick Orn, and Andrew Garrison, all members of the Isotopes operations staff, helped save the life of 79-year-old usher Willie Miera on May 17 when he suffered a massive heart attack on his way to Isotopes Park.

Miera has worked as an usher at Isotopes Park since the team's Inaugural Season in 2003. It was due to the quick actions of Atencio, Orn, Garrison, the AFD, and AAS that Miera was able to return to his post behind section 103 in August.
