Isotopes Swept by Grizzlies in Twin Bill

The Isotopes (58-61) were swept in a doubleheader by the Grizzlies (69-51) Saturday at Isotopes Park as Fresno won game one, 2-1, and game two, 5-3. Albuquerque has now lost seven of its last nine games and is 1.5 games back of Salt Lake in the standings with 22 games remaining in the season.

Isotopes starter Ryan Carpenter earned a complete in game one, tossing all 7.0 innings.  The Albuquerque lefty allowed just three hits during his outing, striking out six and walking just one.  The only runs for Fresno came in third inning on Tyler White's two-run home run.
The Isotopes offense finished the game with 12 runners left on base, stranding runners in every inning of the contest.
Albuquerque's offense fared better in the second game, collecting nine hits including six for extra-bases, but it still left eight runners on base. Noel Cuevas connected on two extra-base hits in the contest and finished the doubleheader going a combined 5-for-8 with two doubles, a triple and three RBI.
Right-hander Thad Weber took the loss for the Isotopes, surrendering three runs and five hits in three innings. Weber's season record now drops to 1-6 over 11 appearances.
Albuquerque and Fresno continue its four-game series Sunday evening from Isotopes Park. Right-hander Zach Jemiola (4-3, 6.48) will toe the rubber for the Isotopes while the Grizzlies have Trent Thornton (6-2, 5.24) slated to start. The game is scheduled to get underway at 6:05 p.m.
