Pederson Makes History As Isotopes Fall To Sky Sox 12-10 In Series Finale

NEED TO KNOW: Albuquerque Isotopes outfielder Joc Pederson became the first member of the Pacific Coast League's "30-30 Club" since 1934 when he stole his 30th base of the season in the sixth inning as the Topes (59-75) dropped the finale of a four-game series to the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (53-82) 12-10. Albuquerque and Colorado Springs split the series.

A CLEAR 30-30 VISION: Joc Pederson stole his 30th base of the season in the sixth inning Saturday night to become the first member of the Pacific Coast League's "30-30 Club" in the modern era. He hit his 30th home run on Monday, Aug. 19, against the Nashville Sounds and currently has 32. He finished the slugfest 1-for-4 with a run scored and a walk. Fans will also have a chance to win his car on Friday, Aug. 29, when the Isotopes host the Las Vegas 51s.

YOU WANT RUNS: The offense was not lacking Saturday night at Security Service Field. The Isotopes got the ball rolling with three runs in the top of the first inning, highlighted by a two-run single from Alex Guerrero. After Albuquerque added one more run in the third, the Sky Sox responded with a five-spot in the home half of the third, including a grand slam. Not to be outdone, the Isotopes scored four more in the fifth to take an 8-5 lead. Back-to-back doubles from Jamie Romak and Guerrero plated three of the five runs before a Carlos Triunfel triple scored another. Another five-spot by Colorado Springs in the bottom of the fifth, followed by two more in the sixth, gave the Sky Sox control of the game. The Isotopes would score two in the ninth after Guerrero drove in his sixth run of the game, but they couldn't tie it back up.

GO-GO GUERRERO: The Los Angeles Dodgers other top prospect had quite a night of his own. Alex Guerrero went 4-for-5 with a run scored, six RBI, a double and a triple. It marked the second time in this series he came up just a home run shy of the cycle after his 3-for-4 showing on Wednesday. Guerrero finished the four-game series against Colorado Springs batting .611 (11-for-18) with four runs scored, four doubles, two triples, one home run and 10 RBI.

ROLLING ROMAK: Jamie Romak kept rolling along and producing runs for the Isotopes. He posted a 1-for-2 evening with a double, one run scored, one RBI and three walks. Since the Dodgers outrighted him to the Minors in late June, Romak has 53 RBI in 52 games, along with 11 homers, one triple and 18 doubles.

ON DECK: The Isotopes will head to Oklahoma City for their final road series of the season, a four-game set with the RedHawks beginning Sunday night at 5:05 p.m. MT. Left-hander Chris Reed (0-2, 12.71 ERA) is scheduled to take the hill for Albuquerque, while Oklahoma City will go with lefty Luis Cruz (1-1, 7.90).

IN THE HOLE: After their final road trip of the season, Albuquerque will return home to conclude the 2014 season with a four-game, five-day series against the Las Vegas 51s.
