(Allentown, PA) – The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (18-15) were able to put an end to their losing streak on Thursday evening as they won 6-2 over the Buffalo Bisons (18-15). The ‘Pigs used seven pitchers and had nine hits in the win.
Darick Hall gave Lehigh Valley a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning as he hit a three-run home run against Nick Allgeyer (2-2). The home run was Hall’s 11th of the season. Matt Vierling and Austin Wynns both scored on the home run. Wynns extended his hitting streak to seven games with a single in the inning.
IronPigs starting pitcher Corey Oswalt threw two shutout innings in his IronPigs debut. Cristopher Sanchez (1-0) took over in the top of the third inning. The Bisons scored two runs against Sanchez to trim Lehigh Valley’s lead to 3-2. Eric Staments hit an RBI double that scored Stevie Berman. Staments then scored on an RBI double hit by Nathan Lukes.
Nick Maton extended Lehigh Valley’s lead to 5-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning. He hit a two-run single against Brandon Eisert that scored Vierling and Hall. Wynns recorded his third hit of the game – an RBI single, in the bottom of the sixth inning that allowed the ‘Pigs to take a 6-2 lead.
The IronPigs and Bisons continue their series on Friday evening at Coca-Cola Park. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
