SACRAMENTO, California -Harrison Bader homered and drove in another run in the eighth inning, but the Memphis Redbirds could not muster any more offense in a 5-2 defeat at the Sacramento River Cats (Giants) Thursday night in Sacramento, Calif.
Bader went deep in the sixth inning and had an RBI single that scored Jose Martinez in the eighth to account for Memphis' (51-65) scoring in the game. The Redbirds grounded into four double plays in the game, including one to end the contest.
Randy Arozarena singled in the eighth to extend his streak of 35-straight starts reaching base. Edmundo Sosa went 0-for-4, ending his hitting streak at 13 games.
Génesis Cabrera went 6.1 innings in a start for the Redbirds, allowing all five of Sacramento's (63-53) runs to score. He struck out seven and walked two. Seth Elledge finished the game for Memphis with 1.2 scoreless innings.
Sacramento led 4-0 after four innings before the Redbirds scored in the sixth.
The loss snapped Memphis' streak of five-straight series victories.
The Redbirds and River Cats finish their series tomorrow night at 9:05 (CT). Memphis then heads to Fresno for four games before returning to AutoZone Park next Thursday for the final homestand of the season.
