MEMPHIS, Tennessee - The first-place Memphis Redbirds (53-34) dropped their second-straight game to the Omaha Storm Chasers (Royals) Thursday night at AutoZone Park, 3-0.
The Redbirds had seven hits in the game, all singles. Memphis was 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position and left nine on base, and in this series the club is 1-for-17 with runners poised to score with 22 stranded on base.
Wilfredo Tovar had two hits for the Redbirds, and five others had a knock.
Jake Woodford started and worked 6.1 innings, allowing three runs on six hits. Three relievers combined to finish the game.
Omaha scored two in the top of the second on a two-run home run by Paulo Orlando and added a third run in the seventh.
The game was interrupted at the end of the eighth inning by a 41-minute rain delay.
