OMAHA, Nebraska - The first-place Memphis Redbirds (57-34) started their post-All-Star Break stretch with a 6-3 win over the Omaha Storm Chasers (Royals) Thursday night in Omaha, Nebraska.
Six Redbirds had multiple hits in the game. Luke Voit was 3-for-5 with a home run, and Patrick Wisdom had two doubles and a walk. Adolis García also homered for the Redbirds, who led 6-0 after five-and-a-half innings.
Austin Gomber started on the mound and moved to 6-3 with a win, going 5.1 innings and allowing three runs on six hits. Tyler Webb was outstanding in relief, striking out five in 2.2 innings and giving up one hit. Matt Bowman picked up a save by striking out the side in the ninth.
Gomber tossed 50 strikes out of his 71 pitches thrown.
In addition to Wisdom, Garcia, and Voit's extra-base prowess, Randy Arozarena also had a double for the Redbirds.
The only Memphis position player who did not have a hit in the game was designated hitter Rangel Ravelo.
