Thanks to solo home runs from Jordan Groshans and Chavez Young, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Toronto Blue Jays Double-A affiliate) defeated the Hartford Yard Goats (Colorado Rockies) 3-2 on Wednesday night at Dunkin' Donuts Park.

Chavez Young (2-4, 2RBI, HR, R) had another strong showing at the plate, going 2-4 with two runs batted in and his sixth home run of the season.

On the pitching side, starter Luis Quiñones (W, 1-2; 5 IP, 1 H, 4 BB, 9 K) was stellar, stranding runners at third base twice and not allowing a hit after the first inning.

The Fisher Cats (43-45) took the lead in the first against Yard Goats starter Karl Kauffmann (L, 1-9). After Samad Taylor singled and Jordan Groshans walked, Chavez Young drove Taylor home with an RBI single to make it 1-0. Jordan Groshans (2-3, HR, 2B, BB) hit a solo home run off of Kauffmann in the fifth to extend the lead to 2-0.

Luis Quiñones quieted the Hartford bats through his five shutout innings of work, giving up just one hit on the night and striking out nine. Sean Rackoski (H, 4) entered in the sixth and worked out of a bases-loaded jam. Graham Spraker (H, 3) pitched to six batters and retired them all.

The Yard Goats plated a run on a groundout in the seventh, making it 2-1, before Chavez Young hit his sixth home run of the season in the top of the eighth to push the lead to 3-1.

Adrian Hernandez (S, 2) entered with a two-run lead in the bottom of the ninth, and despite a run scoring on a wild pitch Hernandez was able to strike out three batters and strand the potential tying run at third base.

The Fisher Cats continue their six-games series at Hartford on Thursday. New Hampshire right-hander Maximo Castillo (9-3, 4.95 ERA) takes the hill for New Hampshire. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m., and fans can catch all of the action on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network.

New Hampshire will return home to Delta Dental Stadium on Tuesday, August 24 for games with Binghamton (Mets) and Portland (Red Sox). For tickets, visit nhfishercats.com.
