Dayton, Ohio-Lake County starting pitcher Joe Colon and reliever Francisco Valera combined on a four-hit shutout as the Captains defeated the Dayton Dragons 5-0 on Friday night. The Captains completed a sweep of the three-game series before a crowd of 8,647 at Fifth Third Field.

Colon (2-3) worked seven innings without allowing a runner past first base. He surrendered three hits and no walks while striking out five.

Lake County's Francisco Lindor belted a two-run home run with no one out in the top of the first inning to get the scoring started. The Captains added single runs in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings to close out the scoring.

Dragons starting pitcher Daniel Tuttle (1-1) worked the first six innings, allowing five hits and three runs with one walk and one strikeout to suffer the loss. Tuttle recovered after allowing two runs before an out was recorded in the first inning to give the club a quality start. Carlos Contreras followed Tuttle to the mound and worked two innings, allowing two runs (one earned). Dan Jensen pitched a scoreless ninth inning for the Dragons.

The four Dragons hits, all singles, belonged to Ryan Wright, Juan Perez, Steve Selsky, and Juan Silva. Perez and Silva each extended hitting streaks to six straight games.

Cincinnati Reds infielder Miguel Cairo played third base for the first seven innings of the game. He grounded out in each of his two plate appearances.

The Dragons (12-16) host the Fort Wayne TinCaps on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. at Fifth Third Field. Tanner Robles (2-0, 2.83) will start for Dayton against Fort Wayne's Matt Wisler (0-3, 4.12). The game will be televised on WHIO Digital Channel 7.2 (Channels 23 and 372 on Time Warner Cable). Former Reds pitcher Doug Bair will provide color commentary.
