June 4, 2010
The Baltimore Orioles announced today that Bobby Dickerson has been named the Norfolk Tides interim manager. Dickerson replaces Gary Allenson, who was named the Orioles interim third base coach earlier today.

Dickerson had been serving as the Orioles Minor League Infield Coordinator/Latin America Field Coordinator this season. The 44-year-old has a career record of 525-462 as a minor league manager, with his most recent stint a 72-72 campaign for the Triple-A Iowa Cubs in 2009. Dickerson served as the Chicago Cubs Minor League Infield/Bunting Coordinator from 2006-08, and he managed the Double-A West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx from 2002-05, where he twice led the club to the postseason. He also served as a minor league coach and manager in the Orioles system from 1993-97.

As a player, Dickerson was drafted in the 23rd round of the 1987 amateur draft by the New York Yankees and played seven seasons in the minor leagues with the Yankees and Orioles. He resides in Laurel, MS with his wife, Christine, and their children, Ashley and Dustin.

Allenson was 228-254 in three-plus seasons as Norfolk's manager and had compiled a 948-1013 mark in 16 years as a minor league skipper. He has previously served on the major league coaching staffs of the Milwaukee Brewers (2000-02) and Boston Red Sox (1992-94).
