September 26, 2013

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City RedHawks will serve as host club for the 2014 Minor League Baseball Promotional Seminar, Minor League Baseball™ and the Oklahoma City Convention & Visitors Bureau announced Wednesday.

The 37th annual seminar will take place Sept. 30 - Oct. 2, 2014 in downtown Oklahoma City. The Renaissance Oklahoma City Convention Center Hotel will house attendees and be the site of most of the seminar events. The announcement was made during this year's Promotional Seminar in Louisville, Ky.

"The Oklahoma City RedHawks are proud to partner with the Oklahoma City Convention and Visitors Bureau to host the 2014 MiLB Promotional Seminar," Oklahoma City RedHawks President/General Manager Michael Byrnes said. "Oklahoma City, the Bricktown Entertainment District, and Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark will be great host venues for the event. I'm confident that our guests across the industry will be treated to a first class event they won't soon forget."

The three-day MiLB Promotional Seminar annually features conversations and idea-sharing regarding multiple aspects of successfully operating a professional sports franchise, including sales & marketing, promotions, social media, public/community relations and more. A Professional Baseball Employment Opportunities (PBEO®) job fair and a trade show also take place during the event.

"We are excited to partner with the RedHawks to bring executives from across the MiLB to Oklahoma City in 2014," said Mike Carrier, President of the Oklahoma City Convention & Visitors Bureau. "OKC is a sports town and we have a special opportunity to showcase our city, facilities, and hospitality to baseball industry professionals from around the nation. We know they will enjoy their time with us and hope to have them back to visit Oklahoma City soon.

Next year's seminar will allow attendees to interact and network during social events, such as a welcome reception, cocktail party and silent auction, MiLB Charities Community Service Project, and an outing at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, where the fourth annual Golden Bobblehead Awards will be presented.

"Oklahoma City has all of the attributes necessary to host a great Promotional Seminar," Tina Gust, MiLB Vice President, Business Development said. "Its location makes it easily accessible to sports executives from around the country and the host hotel and the RedHawks are located in a vibrant downtown area that will provide attendees with a number of entertainment and dining options within walking distance."
