Another Tough Night in the Big Easy

Metairie, La. - One night after their pitching staff set a club record with 19 strikeouts, the New Orleans Baby Cakes offense set a season high with 12 runs to capture a 12-4 win over the Oklahoma City Dodgers Thursday night at the Shrine on Airline.
 
New Orleans (26-22) didn't waste any time at the plate, scoring three runs in the first inning. Monté Harrison walked, stole second base and then scored on a RBI single by JT Riddle. Lewis Brinson followed with a two-run homer, giving the Baby Cakes an early three-run advantage.
Harrison added to the lead in the second inning when he hit a RBI double on a 0-2 pitch with two outs.
Edwin Ríos put the Dodgers on the board with a two-out RBI single in the fourth inning, but the Baby Cakes got the run back in the bottom of the frame. Isaac Galloway reached on a throwing error by third baseman Errol Robinson and later scored on groundout by Harrison. 
In the fifth, a RBI double by Yadiel Rivera and throwing error by Will Smith later in the inning put New Orleans ahead, 7-1.
Isan Díaz connected on a three-run homer in the sixth, going deep for the second straight night, extending the lead to 10-1.
The Dodgers (16-29) rallied in the seventh inning, with five straight batters reaching base with two outs. Daniel Castro lined a two-run single to center field, and Smith came up next with another RBI single to pull the Dodgers within six runs.
Castro and Smith combined to go 5-for-9, but the rest of the lineup was just 2-for-25. For the second time in three games, Smith tallied a game-high three hits.
The Baby Cakes concluded the scoring in the bottom of the seventh inning with a two-run single by Harrison, who finished with a game-high four RBI.
New Orleans used four relief pitchers to cover all nine innings, with Brian Moran earning his first win of the season. Moran (1-1) allowed just one hit and one walk over two scoreless innings with three strikeouts.
Dodgers starting pitcher Dennis Santana allowed a season-high seven runs (five earned) and six hits over five innings in the loss. He walked two and set a season high with eight strikeouts.
