Dodgers Return Home; Score Late Runs in Win

Corey Seager collected four hits as OKC defeated New Orleans, 6-3, Saturday in front of a sellout crowd
August 1, 2015

Oklahoma City - The Oklahoma City Dodgers scored five runs over the seventh and eighth innings in a 6-3 come-from-behind win against the New Orleans Zephyrs Saturday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

The Dodgers trailed, 3-1, entering the bottom of the seventh inning before scoring three runs in the seventh and two runs in the eighth inning in front of a sellout crowd of 10,741.

Corey Seager finished the night 4-for-5 with a RBI and scored two runs as Oklahoma City (64-42) opened a 10-game homestand and a five-game series against the Zephyrs (49-58). Saturday marked Seager's third game of the season with four or more hits for Oklahoma City.

New Orleans scored first and took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

The Zephyrs loaded the bases with none out. Brady Shoemaker hit a grounder to Dodgers third baseman Andy Wilkins who threw to catcher Ralph Henriquez and stepped on home plate to force out lead runner Austin Wates. With the bases still loaded, Jordany Valdespin hit a grounder to second baseman Jose Peraza, who fielded the ball and tossed to shortstop Seager to force out Shoemaker at second. Seager then threw to first trying to get an inning-ending double play, but Valdespin beat the throw and Isaac Galloway scored for a 1-0 Zephyrs lead.

The Dodgers loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the first for Scott Schebler, who flied out to end the inning.

The Zephyrs added a run in the second inning when Austin Wates hit an infield RBI single for a 2-0 New Orleans lead.

The Dodgers got on the board in the second inning. Henriquez hit a one-out single. He moved to second base on a sacrifice bunt by starting pitcher Trevor Cahill and scored on a RBI single by Darnell Sweeney to cut New Orleans' lead to 2-1. Sweeney went on to reach base four times in the game, drawing walks in his final three at-bats, and collected his PCL-leading 30th stolen base of the season.

A sacrifice fly by Austin Nola pushed the Zephyrs to a 3-1 lead in the third inning.

Seager led off the bottom of the seventh for Oklahoma City with single and scored on a RBI single by Kyle Jensen to cut the Zephyrs' lead to one run.

The Dodgers loaded the bases with one out for Henriquez and went on to take a 4-3 lead. Henriquez hit a broken bat grounder to New Orleans reliever Lay Batista. He threw to catcher Brandon Bantz to force out Wilkins at home. Bantz's throw to first sailed past first baseman Kila Ka'aihue's head, allowing two runs to score and Henriquez to advance to third base.

Seager connected on his fourth hit of the night in the eighth inning - a RBI single to center that brought home Sweeney for a 5-3 Dodgers lead.

Jensen added a RBI single to score Seager for a 6-3 lead in the eighth inning. Jensen later closed out the game making a diving catch in right field on a line drive from Galloway for the final out in the ninth inning.

Dodgers reliever Ramon Troncoso (3-1) earned the win for Oklahoma City, tossing a scoreless seventh inning. Relievers Grant Dayton and Chin-Hui Tsao held New Orleans scoreless over the final two frames in the win. Tsao earned his sixth save of the season.

Batista (0-2) was charged with the loss for the Zephyrs, allowing five runs over 2.1 innings.
