Omaha Storms Past Dodgers, 8-0

Papillion, Neb. - The Omaha Storm Chasers hit three home runs, including two during a five-run fifth inning, leading the way to an 8-0 win over the Oklahoma City Dodgers Sunday afternoon at Werner Park.
It was the third time the Dodgers (43-28) have been shutout this season, and the eight-run margin of defeat was the team's largest of the season. The team tallied five singles on the day and only had one runner reach scoring position, with none after the first inning. No OKC runner advanced to third base on the day.
 
Omaha (35-39) missed out on an opportunity to score the first inning. Dodgers pitcher Tyler Pill worked around a leadoff triple and ended up leaving the bases loaded to keep the game in a scoreless tie.
Instead the Storm Chasers started the scoring in the second inning. Billy Burns hit a RBI double with two outs to give Omaha a 1-0 lead.
Donnie Dewees added to the lead with a two-run homer in the fourth inning, making it 3-0. Dewees finished the day 3-for-4 and fell a double shy of the cycle.
The home run barrage continued in the fifth inning, as seven straight Storm Chasers reached base at one point to take an 8-0 lead. Ryan O'Hearn hit a solo homer, and after Omaha loaded the bases, Humberto Arteaga cleared the bases with a grand slam. 
Former OKC Dodger Trevor Oaks kept the Dodgers scoreless over six innings to earn the win. He allowed four hits - all singles - and only had one runner reach scoring position. Oaks (4-3) notched a season-high seven strikeouts and issued one walk. 
Omaha relievers Kevin Lenik and Jake Newberry covered the final three innings to finish Omaha's fifth shutout of the season. The trio of Storm Chasers pitchers allowed a total of seven baserunners and struck out 10 OKC hitters. 
Pill (2-2) had his roughest outing of the season, allowing eight runs and 10 hits over 4.1 innings in the loss. Entering Sunday he had given up one home run all season with OKC before giving up three homers throughout his start. Pill recorded two walks and three strikeouts.
After splitting the four-game series in Omaha, the Dodgers return home Monday to start a four-game series against the Nashville.
