Rancho Cucamonga, CA – The Inland Empire 66ers scored the final 11 runs on Wednesday night, overcoming an early deficit to defeat the Quakes for a second straight night, winning 12-4 at LoanMart Field.

B.J. Boyd had four RBIs to help the 66ers stay in first place and improve their standing over the Quakes to four full games in the South Division’s second half standings.

Rancho’s Luis Rodriguez broke a 1-1 tie, homering to open the second inning, giving Rancho a 2-1 lead. The Quakes would add two more, thanks to a two-out error, taking a 4-1 lead over starter Joey Walsh.

The 66ers began their comeback in the fourth, getting a run off of Orlando Ortiz (2-3) to make it 4-2. A misplayed two-out flyball scored a pair of unearned runs in the fifth, tying the game at 4-4.

In the sixth, Inland took the lead for good, as Edgar Quero opened the inning with a long homer to straight-away center, his 11th of the year, making it 5-4. They poured it on with one more in the fifth, two in the sixth and three in each of the seventh and eighth, respectively, as the Rancho bullpen struggled with command, with the Quakes issuing 11 total walks on the night.

Inland Empire reliever Stiward Aquino (2-2) earned the win with 2.2 innings of scoreless relief.

The Quakes (15-17, 51-47) have now lost four straight overall, but look to stop that skid on Thursday, sending Gabe Emmett (0-1) to the mound against Inland Empire’s Fernando Guanare (3-3). First pitch on Thursday is 6:30pm.

Thursday is another Thirsty Thursday, presented by Endless Kitchen and Bath, as fans can enjoy drink specials throughout the night, including $3 Pepsi products and $4 domestic drafts. Tickets are available at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you at LoanMart Field...Go Quakes!
