Rancho Cucamonga, CA – The Fresno Grizzlies got out of the gate quickly on Wednesday night and never looked back, as they dropped the Quakes by a final score of 9-4.

A four-run first inning was too much to overcome for the Quakes, who saw their brief two-game winning streak come to an end.

Quakes’ starting pitcher Edgardo Henriquez, who was activated from the Injured List and pitching for the first time since May 28, had some rust. Henriquez (2-3) walked the first batter he faced on four pitches and the Grizzlies got to him for four runs on four hits, limiting him to just one inning.

Fresno starter Case Williams (8-2) allowed four runs on five hits over six innings of work, surrendering a pair of homers in the third. Austin Gauthier (5) and Griffin Lockwood-Powell (4) both went deep, helping Rancho to pull within a run at 5-4 in the third.

The Grizzlies got a run back in the fourth and then broke it open in the seventh, as a two-out bases-loaded double by A.J. Lewis off Kelvin Baustista made it a 9-4 game.

The Quakes’ offense only mustered five hits, as they didn’t collect a hit after the Lockwood-Powell homer in the third.

Grizzlies’ reliever Luis Amoroso earned his first save with three perfect innings.

The Quakes (7-10, 43-40) will send Jerming Rosario (2-6) to the mound on Thursday, while Fresno counters with McCade Brown (2-3) at 6:30, in game three of the series.

Thursday is another Thirsty Thursday, with drink specials throughout the night. It’s also Viva Los Temblores, as the Quakes will become Los Temblores de Rancho Cucamonga! Tickets are available at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you at LoanMart Field...Go Quakes!
