Lake Elsinore, CA – The Lake Elsinore Storm rallied on multiple occasions, taking down the Quakes on Tuesday night for a 5-4 win at The Diamond.

A sac fly by Marcos Castanon broke a 4-4 tie in the seventh and put the Storm in the lead for good.

Rancho left the tying run on in the ninth, as Manuel Castro walked Taylor Young with two outs. The Storm went deeper into the bullpen though, summoning lefty Ryan Och for the final out. Och delivered by striking out Bubba Alleyne, earning his second save.

The Quakes played a solid game all night, but little mistakes did them in.

Leading 4-3 in the sixth, a wild pitch and a passed ball allowed the Storm to tie the game at 4-4.

Lake Elsinore took the lead for good in the seventh against Orlando Ortiz (2-4), as Jackson Merrill’s ball to left field was misplayed into a triple. Merrill eventually scored on the Castanon sac fly to give the Storm the one-run advantage.

Yeiner Fernandez homered (7) and Yunior Garcia had a pair of hits for Rancho.

Storm reliever Duncan Snider (4-0) earned the win, despite giving up three run on four hits over six innings.

The Quakes (17-20, 53-50) are now five full games back of the Storm, with 29 to play in the second half. They’ll send Benony Robles (4-2) to the mound in game two, while the Storm will counter with Jesus Gonzalez (5-5) at 6:05pm on Wednesday.

The Quakes return to LoanMart Field on Tuesday, August 16 against the Modesto Nuts, for another Healthy RC Recycle Tuesday. Tickets are available at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you at LoanMart Field...Go Quakes!
