Quakes Open Second Half with Shutout of Storm

Rancho Cucamonga, CA- The second half of the 2023 season started with a Quakes’ win at LoanMart Field! The First Half South Division Champion Quakes would gain their third victory of the series, defeating the Storm 4-0, in their fifth shutout of the year.

Quakes’ starter Peter Heubeck (2-5) was incredible, throwing five innings of one-hit baseball. Heubeck would strike out six, and keep the Storm scoreless through five innings. He would gain his second win of the season!

Storm starter Miguel Cienfuegos (0-1) would give the Quakes two of their runs, and ultimately suffer the defeat.

Josue De Paula, Rayne Doncon and Jose Izarra would each have two-hit nights.

Izarra would blast his third home run of the year, a two-run shot to left, making it 4-0!

David Tiburcio, Christian Ruebeck, and Kelvin Bautista would make appearances out of the Quakes’ bullpen. All would throw scoreless innings, contributing to the Quakes’ fifth shutout of the year! Ruebeck would work around a hit batter, striking out the side in the eighth, before Bautista’s scoreless ninth.

The Quakes (40-27) start the second half of the 2023 season at 1-0, while the Storm (31-33) begin at 0-1.

On Saturday, Quakes’ fans will celebrate Marvel’s Defenders of the Diamond Night! Rancho has not yet named a starter, while Lake Elsinore will throw Henry Williams (0-3). Game time is 6:30pm and tickets are available at rcquakes.com. Let’s go, Quakes!
