Rancho Cucamonga, CA – The Quakes bounced back nicely from Wednesday’s loss to first-place Lake Elsinore, tallying the game’s final eight runs, on their way to an 8-3 win over the Storm on Thursday night at LoanMart Field.

Luis Diaz crushed his first home run in over a month, tying the game at 3-3 in the fourth and Luis Rodriguez drove in the go-ahead run in the fifth, as the Quakes snapped a two-game losing streak to the Storm and pulled to within three games with 18 to play in the first half.

Trailing 3-0 in the fourth, the Quakes finally got some help from Storm starter Jairo Iriarte, who hit the first two batters, before surrendering Diaz’s sixth homer of the year.

In the fifth, Iriarte (2-2) walked the leadoff man and paid the price, as Rodriguez drove home Julio Carrion with a sac fly, putting Rancho ahead to stay at 4-3.

Quakes’ reliever Benony Robles (3-2) was fantastic on Thursday, retiring the first ten men he faced in earning the victory.

The Quakes got three more in the sixth and another in the seventh, putting it away against the Storm bullpen.

Rancho starter Peter Heubeck made his Quakes’ debut and pitched into the third inning. Heubeck issued a pair of walks over his 2.1 innings and was charged with three runs on three hits in the no-decision.

The Quakes (26-22) will send Edgardo Henriquez (2-2) to the mound on Friday, as he’ll face off against Storm right-hander Garrett Hawkins (2-3) at 6:30pm.

Friday is another Family RV Familiy Feast Night, with $2 hot dogs, $1 Pepsi products and $1 ice cream sandwiches. Tickets are available at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you at LoanMart Field...Go Quakes!
