Rancho Cucamonga, CA – The Inland Empire 66ers exploded for seven runs in the fifth inning and went on to defeat the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes on Sunday evening, by a final of 10-3 at LoanMart Field.

Leading 1-0 in the fifth, the Quakes watched the 66ers rip off seven straight runs to take the lead for good and give them four of six and their second series win over Rancho Cucamonga this year.

Nick Biddison was one of the only bright spots offensively, as he had two hits and drove in the first run of the game, as he doubled home Yeiner Fernandez in the second to make it 1-0 over Inland Empire starter Kelvin Caceres.

Maddux Bruns gave the Quakes two innings of scoreless work to start and Jimmy Lewis followed in his season debut with two scoreless innings. But in the fifth, Lewis (0-1) ran into trouble, surrendering a two-run homer to Edgar Quiero, giving Inland Empire the lead at 2-1.

Trailing 7-1 in the sixth, Rancho got two runs off eventual winner Julio Goff (7-8) to get back in the game, making it 7-3.

Inland put it away late though, as they took advantage of 10 more Rancho walks on Sunday, scoring twice in the seventh and one in the eighth to round out the scoring.

The Quakes (17-19, 53-49) will take Monday off, then head to Lake Elsinore on Tuesday, sending Edgardo Henriquez (2-3) to the mound in the series opener at 6:05pm.

The Quakes return to LoanMart Field on Tuesday, August 16 against the Modesto Nuts, for another Healthy RC Recycle Tuesday. Tickets are available at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you at LoanMart Field...Go Quakes!
