Lake Elsinore, CA – The Quakes knocked off the division-leading Lake Elsinore Storm for a second straight night, winning 11-5 on Thursday night at The Diamond.

Taylor Young enjoyed his first career two-hit game, finishing with a career-best three RBIs, helping the Rancho offense capitalize on 11 Storm walks that helped lead to double-digits for the Quakes.

The Storm took the early lead against starter Ronan Kopp, scoring a run in the first, but Rancho rallied in the second to take their first lead of the night.

Sean McLain and Young each collected an RBI in the three-run frame, as Rancho took a 3-1 lead.

The Storm eventually tied it in the fourth, but the Quakes took the lead again in the fifth, then exploded to put it away in the sixth, scoring five times to take a 10-3 lead.

Kyle Nevin finished with three runs scored for a second straight night and Nick Biddison collected his first career three-hit game, finishing 3-4 with two walks and an RBI.

Joel Ibarra (1-2) was credited with his first win, as he notched two innings of relief, allowing just one run.

Storm reliever Alexuan Vega (1-2) allowed two runs in just two-thirds of an inning for the loss.

The Quakes (19-20, 55-50), now just three games back of the Storm in the second half, send Peter Heubeck (0-0) to the hill on Friday, as he’ll take on Lake Elsinore’s Matt Boswell (0-0) at 7:05pm.

The Quakes return to LoanMart Field on Tuesday, August 16 against the Modesto Nuts, for another Healthy RC Recycle Tuesday. Tickets are available at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you at LoanMart Field...Go Quakes!
