Vergara Earns Pitcher of the Month Honors
Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. – The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, in conjunction with Minor League Baseball, announced Monday that right-handed pitcher Brayan Vergara has been named California League Pitcher of the Month for July. This is Vergara’s first honor this year, as well as the team’s first monthly honor of the 2026
Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. – The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, in conjunction with Minor League Baseball, announced Monday that right-handed pitcher Brayan Vergara has been named California League Pitcher of the Month for July.
This is Vergara’s first honor this year, as well as the team’s first monthly honor of the 2026 season. Before the announcement, each of Rancho Cucamonga’s first three awards have all been weekly, as Talon Haley and Ubaldo Soto have combined for three California League Pitcher of the Week awards.
Over the course of the month, Vergara went 1-0 with a 2.04 ERA across seven relief appearances, permitting just four earned runs on 11 hits and three walks while striking out 23 batters over his 17.2 innings. Among pitchers with at least 17 innings pitched, the Chitre, Panama native had the lowest WHIP (0.79) and batting average against (.175). He also placed second in strikeout-to-walk ratio (7.67) and third in hits per nine innings (5.60).
Vergara delivered outings of three hitless innings against the San Jose Giants on July 3rd and the Inland Empire 66ers on July 19th, as well as another three-inning outing in which he allowed one hit versus the Lake Elsinore Storm on July 8th.
The Quakes return home to Morongo Field on Tuesday, August 11th at 6:30 PM to open a pivotal six-game series against the Ontario Tower Buzzers. Fans will be welcomed back to Rancho Cucamonga for Healthy RC Recycle Tuesday and Two Dollar Tuesday.
