Rancho Cucamonga, CA – The Quakes won the wildest of wild ones on Friday night, scoring a run in the bottom of the ninth to cap an incredible comeback and defeat the Fresno Grizzlies by a final of 15-14 at LoanMart Field.

Luis Diaz, who had three hits and five RBIs on the night, legged out a two-out infield single with the bases loaded, giving the Quakes their second straight win over the Grizzlies and the third in four games over Fresno this week.

The Quakes had leads of 2-0, 3-1, 9-5 and 12-8 and also rallied from deficits of 5-3 and 14-12.

Damon Keith had four RBIs and Jake Vogel had four hits, helping lead the Rancho charge, as the Quakes posted 15 runs on 16 hits.

Quakes’ starter River Ryan gave up just one run over four innings, before things got wild out of the bullpen for both teams.

Trailing 14-12 in the eighth, Rancho tied the game with two in the home-half of the frame, as Diaz singled home Luis Rodriguez, then scored on a Kenneth Betancourt RBI double with two outs, tying the game at 14-14.

In the top of the ninth, Quakes’ reliever Martin Santana (4-2) worked out of a first-and-third jam with only one out, keeping the game even at 14-14.

In the last of the ninth, Grizzlies’ reliever Felix Ramires (1-2) walked Austin Gauthier to open the inning and eventually loaded the bases with one out. Gaige Howard, who cracked his first professional home run earlier in the game, failed to be the hero, as he struck out for the second out. That brought Diaz to the plate though and he delivered a chopper up the middle, which ended the game, scoring Gauthier for the walk-off victory.

Rancho (9-10, 45-40) will look for a series-win on Saturday, as Dodgers’ left-hander Andrew Heaney is scheduled to rehab for the Quakes. Heaney is slated to be opposed by Victor Juarez (4-2), who goes for Fresno at 6:30pm. Dodgers rehabbers are sponsored by Yaamava’ Resort and Casino at San Manuel.

Saturday will feature a post-game Fireworks Celebration, thanks to National CORE. Tickets are available at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you at LoanMart Field...Go Quakes!
