(Reading, PA) - With a little more than two weeks left until their next off day, the Fightin Phils recent improved play put them in a good position to make moves in the Eastern Division. Looking for a series win in their long weekend matchup with the Baysox, the Fightins couldn't get anything going on getaway day. The Baysox hammered out 12 hits, and got three home runs for a 7-1 win to salvage a split before the teams meet in Bowie in a few weeks.
With All-Star Keegan Akin starting the finale, the Baysox backed him up with a run two batters in. A leadoff walk to Ryan McKenna from Connor Seabold came before a Corban Joseph double into right center for a 1-0 lead. In the second, the Baysox scored again after a pair of singles and a fielder's choice groundout from shortstop Erick Salcedo for an RBI and a 2-0 lead.
The Baysox kept things rolling in the top of the fourth when Anderson Feliz doubled with one out and catcher Martin Cervenka singled him home to move ahead 3-0. Reading's only run came on a home run from Heiker Meneses to lead off the home fifth, with his first longball making it 3-1 on a day where both starters only went five.
Facing Alexis Rivero in the sixth and seventh, the Baysox got home runs from Jaycob Brugman , Cervenka, and Aderlin Rodriguez to widen the lead to 7-1. Jeff Singer and Edgar Garcia combined on the eighth and ninth to keep the Baysox from scoring for the rest of the afternoon. The Fightins fourth and final hit came on a leadoff single from Damelk Tomscha in the ninth, with the only other notable event being Austin Listi's 16-game hitting streak coming to an end.
