Anthony Vasquez pitched five shutout innings to earn his first win of the season

The Fightin Phils (3-3) closed out their series with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (5-2) on a high note as they won 4-1 on Wednesday morning. Anthony Vasquez earned his first win pitching five shutout innings and Roman Quinn reached base four out his five plate appearances with two hits, two walks and a stolen base.

The Fightin Phils took the lead for the third straight game as Roman Quinn scored on an error from Fisher Cats shortstop Kevin Nolan to give the Fightins a 1-0 lead. Boyd left after five innings and handed the ball to reliever Greg Burke.

Carlos Alonso hit a RBI single to score Quinn and give the Fightin Phils a 2-0 lead in the top of the 6th inning off reliever Greg Burke. Andy Burns cut the lead in half 2-1 in the bottom of the 6th inning off reliever Ryan O'Sullivan as he hit a solo home run. That home run was the sixth home run hit by a Fisher Cat in the series.

The Fightin Phils scored two more runs in the top of the 7th inning off reliever Dustin Antolin to take a 4-1 lead as Roman Quinn hit a RBI double to score Brian Pointer and Carlos Alonso brought in KC Serna on a RBI groundout. Ryan O'Sullivan tossed three innings in relief as he allowed one run off three hits with one walk and one strikeout.

Anthony Vasquez (1-0) settled in nicely for the Fightin Phils as he allowed three hits and four base runners throughout in five innings of work to earn his first win. Matt Boyd (0-1) pitched five innings as he struck out nine Fightin Phils while only giving up just one hit, a single to Cameron Perkins in the top of the 4th inning.

Stephen Shackleford pitched a scoreless bottom of the 9th inning to earn his first save on the season.
