A day after they finally broke into the win column in the series against Worcester, the Red Wings were shut out in the getaway game to Boston’s Triple-A affiliate Easter Sunday afternoon, 7-0. 2B J.T. Arruda made his Triple-A debut and picked up his first hit in the third, one of five hits from the Red Wings offense. RHP Chase Solesky took the ball and turned in 5.1 innings of work on the mound, his longest start at the Triple-A level.
After an offensive onslaught that was Saturday afternoon, game six of the series started as a pitchers' duel. It would not be until the top half of the third team that either team would cross the plate. LF Corey Rosier, who was just called up from the Red Sox Double-A affiliate, Portland, started the inning off with a ground ball single to center field. The former 12th-round pick stole second two batters later, and moved up to third on a deep fly ball off the bat of 2B Vaughn Grissom. Worcester took a 1-0 lead into the bottom of the third.

Both offensives went cold during the fourth and fifth innings, until the Worcester bats came alive again in the top of the sixth inning. Vaughn Grissom kept his big week going with another line drive single to center field. SS Marcelo Mayer followed that up with a two-run bomb to deep center field, pushing the Red Sox lead to 3-0. 1B Nathan Hickey then worked a walk, which was followed up by a RF Phillip Sikes hit-by-pitch to load the bases. C Mark Kolozsvary then cleared the bases with a grand slam to left field. This pushed Worcester to a 7-0 lead after the top half of the sixth inning.
The score remained the same as the Red Wings came to the plate in the bottom of the ninth. CF Andrew Pinckney logged a two-out single, but was stranded at third to put a pin in the series finale, with a final score of 7-0.
RHP Chase Solesky made his fourth start of the year Sunday afternoon. The right-hander limited the WooSox offense to three earned on seven hits with five strikeouts across 5.1 innings before handing the ball to RHP Matthew Bollenbacher. The Virginia Beach native came in for his first career Triple-A appearance, throwing 1.2 innings, giving up three earned runs, on one hit, and walking three. RHP Hyun-il Choi would be the next arm out of the bullpen for Rochester, making his first relief appearance of the year. The South Korean native finished with 1.0 hitless inning of work with two walks. SS Jackson Cluff entered the game to pitch in the top of the ninth inning, toeing the rubber for the first time in his professional career. The BYU alumni tossed a scoreless inning, surrendering only one hit with a strikeout.
2B J.T. Arruda is the Player of the Game for Rochester’s Sunday matinee. The 2019 11th-round pick out of Fresno State notched his first Triple-A hit in his Red Wings debut. Arruda finished the game 1-for-3 with a single and five defensive assists, including two diving plays that took away a pair of hits. He is the 15th position player to suit up in a Red Wings uniform this season.
Rochester will take their scheduled off-day on Monday to travel to Buffalo for a six-game set against the Buffalo Bisons. The first pitch for Tuesday’s game is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
