The guys celebrate a walk-off win on April 15th.

Portrait photography is my other passion so I was happy when Red Wings’ infielder Jecksson Flores asked me to create a portrait of him and his lovely wife Jodie away from the ballpark this summer.

To me, this photo of Cole Freeman crashing into the center field wall on July 29th is a metaphor for how the 2022 season went. There were many great moments, but also many tough times on the field, including a 19 game losing streak. Cole got up slowly and stayed in the game.

Red Wings' catcher, Chris Herrmann, gets some much needed daddy time after a game on July 30th.

From a photographic standpoint, this photo of Francisco Perez sizing up the hitter on July 30th, has a lot going for it. I like the composition and by using shallow depth of field - a f/2.8 aperture setting - I was able to isolate Francisco’s imposing stare.

Sometimes I like simplicity in my photographs. This simple image of Reed Garrett catching a ball thrown back from his catcher, was taken from behind home plate. I used the batter’s eye for a clean uncluttered look. This picture also illustrates why every ball park has a batter’s eye - the black wall in straight-away center field. The batter’s eye is a safety feature which provides contrast by isolating the white baseball against the black background so hitters can see the ball clearly.

This photo of Ildemaro Vargas scooting across the infield to snag a hard hit grounder on July 1st represents what I strive for while photographing a game - capturing peak action. The exact moment the ball goes into the glove, the instant the ball leaves the pitcher’s hand or the split second that the bat and ball meet. Capturing peak action is what has kept me coming back game after game and year after year for the last ten years.

Even though I have some favorite photos of our players actually playing the great sport of baseball, my absolute favorite photos come from the celebrations from our players that people don't regularly see, and the fan experiences. Milo the Bat Dog, Baseball Buddies, and many other events that let our fans be a part of the game, along with our players. I love seeing the smiles on everyone's faces, especially from the fans.

I always look to find a different angle to shoot from and give the fans a different perspective of the game. This quickly became one of my favorite photos because little did I know, this would be the last photo of Joey Meneses I took before he went up to the Nationals!

I love to shoot the emotion of the players more than I do the action of the game. This was an incredible moment between Josh Palacios and his uncle that we would be honoring on this day.

I'm always looking for new and fun ways to push myself in my photography. This was the first time I had done anything like this and it was just a fun atmosphere to shoot in with the smoke, lights, and music.

I just love this photo of Tres Barrera running with the kids on Easter during our easter egg hunt.

I absolutely love this photo of this little boy getting his ball signed by Joey Meneses. There is so much more happening around the ballpark than just what is happening on the field.

I have always loved the view up on the roof. I really like this picture because of the empty space surrounding the player coming in from the outfield.

I love the action and emotion shown in this photo but also love it because it features a jersey that I designed.

I love this photo because of the empty space to the right and and it features another one of the jerseys I designed.
