The Rochester Red Wings dropped their second game in a row to the Mets, losing 5-4 on Saturday evening at Frontier Field. The Mets own a 3-2 series lead with one game remaining.

RHP Sterling Sharp logged a quality start in the loss, allowing three hits and three runs in six innings.

Rochester fell into an early 3-0 hole, but a triple RBI from LF Andrew Stevenson and a single RBI from SS Ildemaro Vargas made it 3-2. Stevenson tied it in the fifth with an RBI single, and the Wings took the lead in the seventh off an RBI single from 2B Jake Noll. With LHP Alberto Baldonado at the mound, Mets DH Travis Blankenhorn hit a two run RBI double to put Syracuse up, 5-4.

The Red Wings now hold a 14-7 record in one run games, and a 27-8 record in games where the Wings outhit the opponent. Rochester registered 10 hits in Saturday’s contest while Syracuse logged just six.

With a chance to tie the series, the Wings will send RHP Logan Verrett to the mound on Sunday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. at Frontier Field.
