THIS DAY IN RED WINGS HISTORY
1967 - Red Wings' pitcher Tom Fisher earned his sixth win of the season, allowing five hits in a complete game shutout as Rochester beat Buffalo 2-0 in Rochester. Both of the Wings' runs came on solo home runs. One was hit by Frank Peters, the other by John Scruggs.
2005 - Syracuse completed the two game sweep of the Red Wings Thursday night at Frontier Field, 6-5. Jason Bartlett, Terry Tiffee, Kevin West and Brent Abernathy each had two hits.
2006 - The Red Wings dropped a 6-2 decision to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons Friday night at Frontier Field...Kevin West had two hits and drove in both Red Wings runs.
THIS DAY IN INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE HISTORY
1890 - For the first and only time, the International League ends play before the scheduledconclusion of the championship season. The new Players League, created to challenge the National and American Leagues for Major League prominence, fielded clubs in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, and Toledo - all IL cities from 1889. Only Buffalo attempted a return to the IL in 1890, but the club folded two months into the season and was moved to Montreal. Three weeks later the team was moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan. At the same time Hamilton, also in financial crisis, relocated to Montreal, faring no better at the gate than the Buffalo club had. The six-team League, which also included Detroit, London, Saginaw-Bay City, and Toronto, finally called it quits on July 7. President Charles White would, however, reorganize the League for the 1891 season.

IT HAPPENED THIS DAY

He uses an unnatural motion, causing an arm injury from which he never recovers.
