The Rome Braves defeated the Columbia Fireflies in a 10-0 shutout Saturday night at State Mutual Stadium before a crowd of 3,694 fans.

The Braves came out swinging and never looked back, plating their first two runs in the second inning on a Bradley Keller two-run single. Rome plated two more in the third on a Kevin Josephina two-run double and one more in the fourth on a Jordan Rodgers RBI single for the early 5-0 lead. The offense continued to pile on as they scored one in the sixth, three in the seventh and one in the eighth en route to the 10-0 victory. Kevin Josephina had a monster game for Rome going 5-5, coming a home run short of the cycle. Pitching was also dominant as Jeremy Walker and Taylor Lewis combined to shutout the Fireflies on seven hits with only one walk.

Walker (7-11) gets the win for Rome while Jose Medina (1-1) takes the loss for Columbia. Lewis (3) gets the save.

Rome and Columbia square off in game three of a four game series tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m.
