ROUND ROCK, Texas -- The Sacramento River Cats (61-50) found another way to win, and this time it was a brand new River Cat driving in nearly all of the team's runs in a 4-3 victory over the Round Rock Express (65-45).
Outfielder Jaylin Davis, one of a trio of players who was sent to San Francisco from Minnesota in exchange for righty reliever Sam Dyson, doubled home two runs in his first plate appearance. He later singled, doubled again, and drew a walk to reach base all four times. Davis totaled 11 doubles and 15 home runs in 41 games for the Triple-A Rochester Red Wings of the International League before joining Sacramento.
Before submariner Tyler Rogers came in for a clutch two-inning save, outfielder Joey Rickard broke a 3-3 tie in the sixth with his third homer of the season. He finished the game 2-for-5 and has successfully reached base in 25 straight games.
The River Cats have not named a starter for Saturday night's matchup, while the offense will face Houston's rehabbing right-hander Brad Peacock followed by righty Brandon Bielak (5-3, 4.45). First pitch is set for 5:05 p.m. (PT). Listen to all of the action live online at rivercats.com, on the MiLB First Pitch app, and on Money 105.5 FM (PT).
Additional Notes
• As it's been during the club's stretch, the top of the order has been crucial in setting the table. On Friday night, the first three hitters in the lineup reached base a combined eight times and scored all four runs.
• Despite the team's overwhelming success on the road this season, it would take 11 consecutive victories away from Raley Field to close out the year in order to tie the franchise record of 47 set back in 2011.
