Sacramento drops series finale despite Beede's brilliance
Albuquerque, NM - Tyler Beede put forth one of his best outings of the season but it was all for naught as the Sacramento River Cats (33-52) fell 4-3 to the Albuquerque Isotopes (42-44) Thursday night.
Albuquerque, NM -
Coming into tonight's start, Beede owned a 10.45 ERA in two starts against the Isotopes. The Giants' No. 1 prospect was on a mission tonight however, allowing just one earned run over his seven innings without yielding a walk. Three of Albuquerque's runs were unearned due to two errors as Beede did not allow his first earned run until the fifth inning. The right-hander kept the ball on the ground as well, inducing a season-high 13 groundouts and two double plays. He came through at the plate tonight as well, smacking his second career double to leadoff the fifth but was thrown out trying to steal third.
The River Cats offense was unable to back Beede's quality start, racking up 14 hits but finished 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position.
Sacramento returns home tomorrow night to open a four-game set against the Tacoma Rainiers. Left-hander
Postgame Notes
Beede on the bump:
Federowicz: Catcher Tim Federowicz registered his fifth three-hit game tonight…he's now hitting .438 (14-for-32) in nine games against the Isotopes…also hit two doubles in a game tonight for the first time this season.
Calixte: Shortstop Orlando Calixte hit his 10th home run of the season tonight…leads the team with 33 RBI.
Getting defensive: The River Cats dropped their record to 7-9 when committing two or more errors in a game…Sacramento turned two double plays and now lead the PCL with 100 double plays on the season…59 of those have come on the road.
