MOOSIC, PA (August 7, 2026) – The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders were defeated 13-5 by the Rochester Red Wings on Friday night. The visitors capitalized on a six-run first inning and never looked back. Anthony Volpe and Jasson Domínguez homered in the loss.
Rochester earned five consecutive walks off of starter Adam Kloffenstein to put the first two runs aboard. A grand slam from Cayden Wallace made it 6-0 before a double play ended the frame.
Kloffenstein went six-up six-down to recover well. Meanwhile, the RailRiders cut into the deficit. Kenedy Corona walked to reach and Volpe unloaded for a 431-foot home run.
The Red Wings got one run right back in the fourth inning, but so did the RailRiders as Yanquiel Fernández drove in a run for a 7-3 score.
Yohandy Morales and Maxwell Romero Jr. each launched a solo shot to start the next two frames.
In the home half of the seventh, Domínguez drilled a slider over the fence to make it 9-4.
Rochester added four to their lead in the ninth. Trey Lipscomb and Wallace each singled to reach off of Chris Kean. But the RailRiders ran out of arms and had to turn to catcher Abrahan Gutierrez on the mound to finish the contest. Gutierrez let up a two-run blast to Leandro Pineda for a 13-4 advantage.
Max Schuemann knocked his fourth hit of the contest in the final frame. He scored on a J.C. Escarra groundout to garner SWB's last run, with it ending 13-5 in favor of the Red Wings.
Kloffenstein (L, 2-8) took the loss going four innings, allowing seven runs. Rochester utilized eight pitchers in the game with Matt Krook (W, 1-0) earning the win for his clean inning of work.
