The win moved Somerset to 3.5 games back of first-place Reading in the Northeast Division with 33 games remaining, while advancing the Patriots to 17-19 in one-run games.
Somerset exploded for four runs in the second inning thanks to a pair of two-run homers from Josh Moylan and Connor McGinnis. The two-homer second inning was Somerset’s 10th multi-home run inning this season and first since the sixth inning on July 31 vs. Richmond.
Somerset has smashed multiple homers in 44 of 105 (41.9%) games this season. That surpasses Somerset’s multiple homers in 35 of 138 (25.4%) games in 2025. Somerset’s 149 homers this season are tied for the Double-A lead and are tied for eighth in MiLB at the time of the game’s conclusion.
In the seventh inning, Somerset used three consecutive two-out baserunners to score two runs and take a 6-5 lead. Since the All-Star Break, Somerset’s .329 AVG with two outs leads Double-A and ranks third in MiLB.
RHP Rory Fox (5.2 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 1 BB, 4 K) retired the final nine batters he faced in his second career Double-A start. Fox issued two or fewer walks in his ninth consecutive outing dating back to his time with the Renegades. Fox’s 90 pitches, 5.2 IP and four strikeouts all marked Double-A career-highs. Across his last seven starts dating back to Hudson Valley, Fox has posted a 3.60 ERA and 1.10 WHIP with 41 K to 8 BB in 40.0 IP.

RHP Kevin Stevens (1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K) worked a perfect eighth inning with two strikeouts. Stevens recorded his fourth consecutive scoreless outing. In that span, he’s allowed just two hits, striking out six batters without a walk in 4.2 IP (0.43 WHIP, .133 BAA).
RHP Kelly Austin (1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, SV) earned his team-leading fourth save of the season. Austin posted his fifth consecutive scoreless outing. During that stretch, he’s allowed just four hits in 7.0 IP (.160 BAA). Across his last 17 outings since June 7 at Harrisburg, Austin has posted a 2.53 ERA, 1-0 record, 1.13 WHIP and .188 BAA with 20 K to 9 BB in 21.1 IP.

2B Connor McGinnis (1-for-5, HR, 2 RBI, R) pounded his seventh homer of the season to give Somerset a 4-1 lead in the second inning. With the homer, McGinnis extended his hit streak to six games. With hits in seven of his last eight games, McGinnis is 9-for-31 (.290 AVG) with five RBI in that span. Across his last 42 games dating back to his first Double-A homer on June 16 at Portland, McGinnis is slashing .266/.333/.474 with 7 HR, 17 XBH and 25 RBI. McGinnis’ seven homers in that stretch are tied with Coby Morales for the team lead while his 25 RBI and 41 hits rank second.

SS Roderick Arias (2-for-5, 2B, 3B, 2 RBI) pummeled his first career Double-A triple to score two runs and claim a 6-5 lead in the seventh inning. Arias recorded his second consecutive multi-hit game with the Patriots and first Double-A game with multiple extra base hits. Dating back to his time in Hudson Valley, Arias has hit safely in seven straight games. In that span, he’s slashing .414/.433/.655 with 6 XBH, 3 RBI and four multi-hit games.
DH Miguel Palma (1-for-4) notched a single in the sixth inning, recording a hit in back-to-back contests. Across his last 19 games, Palma is batting .310/.355/.563 with 5 HR, 8 XBH and 15 RBI.

1B Josh Moylan (2-for-4, HR, 2 RBI, R) pulverized his sixth homer with Somerset in the second inning and 19th home run between High-A and Double-A this season. Moylan’s 19 HR are a career-high and are tied for third in the Yankees minor league system. With two hits, Moylan registered his sixth multi-hit game with Somerset and 18th this season dating back to his time with the Renegades. Across his last 15 games, Moylan is slashing .339/.361/.536 with 3 HR, 11 RBI, 5 XBH and four multi-hit games.
C Manny Palencia (2-for-4, 2B) doubled in the eighth inning to secure his third consecutive multi-hit game and 13th multi-hit game of the season to lead all Somerset catchers. Since the beginning of July, Palencia has seven multi-hit games and is slashing .411/.431/.536 with a HR, 6 RBI and 5 XBH in that span.
RF Luis Durango (1-for-4, R) singled and scored in the second inning, extending his on-base streak to seven games. Across nine Double-A games this season, Durango is 8-for-23 with 4 R, 2 XBH, 4 RBI, 3 SB and 3 BB.
